Making a Difference in Harrison
I am making writing for this web site too hard. By trying to find the perfect topic, writing it in the perfect (hopefully) most entertaining way, I am missing the whole point of it — which is to use it as an easy way to share and comment on the news and interests of our community. So, I’ll just dive in.
First, kudos to Larry Bertolino for creating such a wonderful forum. It is among the best I have ever seen. The first introduction any person, place or thing has these days is on the internet. This website is a great first impression for Harrison County to make. It doesn’t just capture demographic and event information, it has an energy all its own that I think (hope) is reflective of a new spirit emerging county-wide. Thank you, Larry. You’ve made a difference.
Second, in my capacity as director of the Harrison County Visitors Center, I want to use every avenue I can to promote Harrison County events, sites, history, and people. I try to keep our website www.visitharrisoncounty.org up-to-date and fresh. Please be sure to drop off flyers and get me information for the goings-on in your community. We can be the clearing house for this information. I’ll be asking for your help in the coming months as I develop a few new projects that might make a difference.
Third, condolences to the County on the passing of two very dedicated, very different, but very dedicated men of the community – Milton Ronsheim and Raymond Jones. Due to age and illness, their physical presence had diminished these past years. Many of our younger people may not know them or the work they did. But we would all do well to learn from their examples of community involvement. Only by being involved, can we make a difference.
So, let’s be involved. Let’s BE the difference.

First and foremost, thank you very much Marcia, your comments are appreciated. What you have written, examplifies what the goal of this website is, and the potential to bring about community action and involvement. The energy is there, thanks to folks such as yourself, for taking an active role and bridge that gap in communication between our communities here, within Harrison County. I for one look forward to every post you publish, as Im sure others will as well!

Marcia…as always, a class job! The best way to write anything is to dive on in and just do it, and once again, your championship of Harrison County makes your words shine. I’ll look forward to reading your columns and more about Harrison County on this website.
Also, kudos to Larry and everyone who contributes here. It’s a nice, modern way for people from out of town to keep up on all the happenings, and you do a very nice job keeping it current. Great work!
Take care,
