First Responders Service in Scio

On Sunday, September 20, The Scio United Methodist Church will conduct a special service at 10:45am to recognize the county’s fire, police and sheriff departments and other emergency response service providers for their public service. A moment of silence and the fireman’s “Last Alarm” ceremony will be conducted during the service as well as a blessing of the emergency vehicles in the church parking lot. Friends and family of these public safety individuals and the public are invited to honor the men and women who keep the community safe.
All Fire Fighters, Police/Sheriff Officers and EMT’s are encouraged to attend in uniform for special recognition. Departments wishing their vehicles to be blessed should have the vehicles at the designated area in the Church parking lot prior to 10:30.
The Church will also be serving lunch following the service.

Dave Rose, of Scio, is the County Veterans Service Officer. He retired in 2008 as a Department of Army civilian from Fort Meade, Maryland with forty years of Federal service (military and civilian). He is a member of the Scio American Legion, Scio Ruritans, Harrison County Historical Society, Harrison County Military Support Group, and the Custer Memorial Association. His hobbies include collecting military insignia and reading Civil War history.
