Essay Contest Announced
The Concerned Citizens of Harrison County are announcing an essay contest for high school aged students in Harrison and surrounding counties.
The winning essay will receive $100 in cash and will get to read their essay at the upcoming TEA Party, Saturday, October 10th from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Harrison County Courthouse.
Applicants must be from Harrison, Jefferson, Guernsey, Belmont, Tuscarawas, or Carroll County. The essay must be 1000 words or less, and touch on any or all of the following:
Why should citizens pay attention to current events, and why it’s important to use more than one source of information,
Why there should be a balance of powers and are we losing it with each new Czar,
How is the Tea Party movement affecting political decisions,
Compare/contrast capitalism verses socialism,
Why politicians should have the same public benefits that citizens have [(social security, public health insurance (if enacted)],
According to the Constitution what is the role of the Federal government and its powers?
Essays can be emailed to harrisoncoteaparty@yahoo.com no later than 6:00 pm, Wednesday, September 30.
If you do not have access to email you may mail your entry to
Concerned Citizens, c/o Barb Momyer, PO Box 104, Hopedale, OH 43976 so that it arrives September 30.
The TEA Party committee will make their decision on October 1st and the winning entrant will be contacted the following day. If you have any questions, please email or call 740-624-0543.
