Harrison County Veterans Day Program

vetsday09The Harrison County Veterans Service Commission is inviting all veterans and service organizations to participate in the Veterans Day Program. The program will begin at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 on the Courthouse lawn next to the Veterans’ Memorial. Harry “Bud” Milligan, a WWII Navy veteran, will be the featured speaker. The Harrison Central High School Band will be on hand to provide the patriotic music selections. The Rifle Salute will be conducted by the Cadiz American Legion Post #34. Various organizations will also be laying wreaths at the memorial in honor of Veterans, past and present.

Dave Rose, of Scio, is the County Veterans Service Officer. He retired in 2008 as a Department of Army civilian from Fort Meade, Maryland with forty years of Federal service (military and civilian). He is a member of the Scio American Legion, Scio Ruritans, Harrison County Historical Society, Harrison County Military Support Group, and the Custer Memorial Association. His hobbies include collecting military insignia and reading Civil War history.

  1. I encourage the public to make their way to the courthouse on November 11th. Support the current military community of your county, as well as those who have served before.

    You being there, shows that despite whatever level of support you have for the current and or past regime of our nation, that you do support the sons and daughters who have given their all, from our county.
