Dakota’s Animal Haven & Rescue

We are a 100% no-kill rescue shelter for all pets abandoned, abused, or homeless and bound for the pound, who just need lots of love and a new start on life.
We are a non-profit animal facility that I have personally funded with my families income since I started it in 2002.
I started this shelter in memory of my six year old son ( a true Cherokee Native, with a love for all nature’s animals, big and small ) whome I lost in flesh, but who lives on through this rescue haven where I feel the touch of his love every single moment. It was his caring soul that brought me to give all I had to ensure happiness and wealness for all animals. So it is with great pride and inspiration of Dakota, that this shelter will not fail!
In 2002, Dakota’s Animal Haven had a humble beginning, averaging 20 to 30 dogs and about 20 cats. By the way of just very little word of mouth is how I maintained for years, and thinking that I was doing enough. But then in 2008 I realized how blind I was being.
With the economy down for the count, more and more animals were feeling the direct abuse from it. With all the pounds and shelters full to capacity,a nd thousands of animals being sensously abandoned and even killed, I knew I had to do whatever possible to enlarge my facility. So with the help of my family and a few great volunteers, we have added thousands of squarefoot kennel space, and are not done yet.
I am now on the hunt for more land to get bigger and better to save the life of these animals. I have stayed true to my promise to never turn away a needy animal and to never, sensously end ones life.
So with that said, we now house over 80 dogs, 30 cats, 7 goats and 10 ducks, and really need your help to allow me to keep the promise and the mission alive.
So now I must ask for and seek out and rely on generous donations from other animal lovers like us to help me in the ever rising cost of food, shelter and medications to keep them all healthy and happy. It has grown into a full-time responsibility for my family and a few other great volunteers to tend to the daily basic needs of the animals and keeping shelters built for the ever growing numbers.
Thus, we are always so very appreciative of any donation, being of money, food, blankets, and towels, to the basic building materials as to ensure my promise to my son to give these animals and all the future animals coming our way, the health and happiness they deserve, or even to possibly come and adopt ne of our very own, or at least sponsor one that we will keep you up to date with its life.
All our pets are health checked and made current with all shots and meds.
Thank You So Much For Caring Enough To Read This !!

I have a chainlink kennel that was left at my house, that u may have if u come and pick it up. Some of the pipe is laying in the woods and the fence is rolled up in the yard, but it was standing at one time and u are more then welcome to it.
Jolene , if you are still looking at this website I am soo sorry I never responded , I was shocked to see that Larry took a flyer and did this great deed for our shelter but I did not know it was here until just now 11:41pm 4/7/11 . yes in deed , would love the kennel if you still have it , we are always in need of any and all supplies as we have never turned away a needy animal or will end thier life for any political reason as the pounds all do and many shelters too . we also always have some great pets waiting on loving homes . You can call us anytime and find out more at 740-946-1058 . Thank You and God Bless Chuck & Melinda Hoobler
