Recreation in Harrison County

Well according to the latest poll, recreation is the number one voted on object (of the choices given). It does not take a poll to realize that what we have here in Harrison County is very limited, in terms of recreation and entertainment. If you take a loop back through history, you can see that civilizations worked their people to the extremes, and that the ordinary folk tolerated massive amounts of abuse..
As long as they were fed and well entertained. People need venues to vent off the stress of their day. Like robots, we all go through our paces, day after day, and like a pressure vessel soon reaches it max capacity.
I think the county is off to a great start thanks to the great food establishments we have, and venues such as Ray & Sarah’s in Jewett. There is potential capacity that can be utilize and filled. So we have sources of food services and places quench our thirst.
What about entertainment? What do we as humble citizens of Harrison County want to do in the small amount of spare time we have?
Granted there are alot of small families in our County. So heading out for a cold one is not always an option.
This past summer while roving around in the (heathen wagon)[our over sized, obnoxious conversion van that we haul the family around in] visiting a different park in the County, it dawned on me, that while we have some nice small parks, all were in various conditions.
And do not get me wrong, the park in New Athens is by far the most relaxing, cleanest place to visit, not to mention it has a number of activities for the kids to partake in. But I feel that something more could be done to provide another place for children.
The visitors to this site said Recreation. What is it that we want?
