A Place to Call Home

If only there was a place to live. Is what I hear often when talking to folks outside of Harrison County, Ohio. I can not even begin to recall how many times I have been asked if I knew of a place for rent, or affordable homes for sale.
More often then not, the question is in regards to renting. In these economic good times, ( I Jest ) most no longer have the ability to gain access to a loan to purchase a home. Either their credit is shot by having to put their entire lives on credit in order to keep their lights on, or perhaps they no longer have the stable job they once had. Oh and do not forget the fact that the banks have no desire to hand out money like the used to. (If they truely used to do such, at least in our region ).
The answer that I have to give everyone is. ” I don’t know “. With the exception of a few well known land lords in the Cadiz area. The information out there is nill. Are their homes for rent outside of Cadiz? Who are the owners? The majority of landlords do not publish the availability of their homes in the newspaper these days, and almost entirely rely on word of mouth.
Which is unfortunate. Imagine how many folks would move to our area, if only there was affordable and available housing for them?
The constant worry is almost always about work. But the side of effect of the world around us is also housing. Those that want to come in, could be skilled professionals. They could be families with children ready to enroll in our school system. They could be self made entrapenuers looking to start a business. If only they had a roof over their heads.
I encourage those of you out there, who are in the know, to help get the word out. If you know of places for rent anywhere in the county, by all means send it in to ThisIsMyCounty. I will create a directory that can be used as a reference for those looking for a place to call home. But I can not do it without your help.
