Going Green Tip #1

Everywhere you look, people are talking about going green.  When I first started working in the Green Ohio Corps, I had no idea what I was meant to do when I heard that phrase.  Now, since I’ve been in the program for awhile, I am beginning to understand what it means.

I thought I would post a “Going Green Tip” every day and hopefully make your day a little ‘greener’.

Here’s a tip to help you go green:

If where you want to go is close, say two miles or less, walk or ride a bike to get there.  It saves on energy, it doesn’t take any gas, and it’s a great way to get exercise.

Because my job requires me to go to different places to take photos or collect flyers and other information, I try to walk to as many places as I can.  If I’m collecting information from Cadiz, since that’s where my job is located, I walk all over Cadiz to get it.  I’ve even walked all of the way to Hevistar (but I sort of miscalculated on that one, not realizing how far away from My Local PC Pro it really was).   Walking is also a great stress reliever as well.

But if you have to drive to different places, the best way to save energy is to drive the speed limit.  It doesn’t take as much gas and it also helps save money as well.  If you go the speed limit, you save money by not having to fill up your tank as often.
