Going Green Tip #5

Another going ‘green’ tip.

Going ‘green’ isn’t just for humans, but pets can be ‘green’ as well.

Dogs and cats are great companions, but once in awhile they get fleas.  And fleas are a pain to get rid of.  Here’s a few tips to help get rid of them.

If your dog or cat happens to get fleas, vacuum your house thoroughly where your dog or cat has been at.  That means every room and area, including furniture, that they have been on at one point.

Bathing your dog or cat regularly is another way to combat fleas.  Using a flea comb works as well.  Use the flea comb on your dog or cat and then get a bucket of hot (as hot as you can stand it) soapy water that has your pet’s shampoo in it.  After combing your pet with the flea comb, put the comb into the water.  It kills them.  Repeat the process until you believe they are all off of your pet.

Also, to reduce the chance of getting fleas from your yard, treat your yard with nematodes.  They are small worms that eat the flea larvae.  It’s very beneficial and a way to go ‘green’.
