General George A. Custer’s 171st Birthday Celebration

In preparation for the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, “Lessons of the American Civil War through Music” will be the program for the Custer Birthday celebration on December 4, starting at 5:30 PM at the Custer Museum and Center in New Rumley.  We will be having Steve Ball, a resident of Columbus, Ohio perform with his authentic 1860 Martin 2-20 guitar.

Steve has performed at events for over 10 years.  His program will narrate the creation of many of the popular tunes of the Civil War period and includes interesting tales about the people who wrote them.  Many of the tunes are still heard today but not recognized — one example being a melody made popular by Elvis Presley.

The Custer Memorial Association’s own General Custer (aka Rick Williams) will be hosting the dinner served by the New Rumley United Methodist Church.  Door Prizes, provided by area businesses, will be awarded along with a 50/50 cash drawing.

After Steve’s musical program, an auction of Custer related memorabilia and other great items from area businesses will be held in the Custer Museum and Center.  You won’t want to miss this evening.
