Going Green Tip #16

Another tip to help you go ‘green’.

I can’t believe it’s the first day of December already.  This year went way too fast, in my opinion.  Since the holidays are just around the corner, I thought it would be nice to post a few ‘green’ ideas to hopefully help you during this wonderful season.

I’m not sure how many people still put bows on their packages, but I always thought it added a nice little touch to the ending result.  If you put bows on your packages, use fabric instead of plastic.

And the fabric that you use for bows doesn’t have to be fancy.  Old shirts, that have been washed, come in handy for creating bows or ribbon for packages.  Just cut strips of fabric from the shirt that will be long enough to either put around the whole package or just big enough to make a small bow that you can just put on the corner of the package.  That’s just one way you can get fabric.  Or find some old scraps of fabric that you may have in a sewing bag or laying around the house.  You may be surprised at what kind of fabric you can find around your home.

Adding bows and ribbons from recycled fabric adds a personal touch to a present and also saves on money.
