MCBI and TechGROWTH Ohio are excited to kick-off 2011 with the very popular Big Idea Contest.  Designed to encourage new and existing businesses,  as well as entrepreneurs, to launch their innovative ideas or inventions via a competition for cash and business services.  Any creative, unique idea will be considered, provided it is practical enough to result in a realistic and profitable business.

Successful applicants must demonstrate an ability to implement their idea and begin a business by completing the application process.   A panel of top business professionals will evaluate all the applications.

Anyone who lives in one of nine counties served by the MCBI Regional Incubator for Entrepreneurs is eligible.  Those counties are:  Belmont, Coshocton, Guernsey, HARRISON, Jefferson, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, and Noble.  Anyone may enter.  It does not matter if you already have a business, if you are an employee, a student or a retiree.  All you need is a workable idea.

You may download an application at Applications are also available at your County’s local MCBI hub connection.  In Harrison County, the hub is at the Cadiz/Harrison County Visitors Center, 143 South Main Street, Cadiz, OH 43907. 

 Completed applications should be mailed to MCBI, “The Big Idea Contest,” at 56 North Fifth Street, Zanesville, OH 439701.  They may also be e-mailed to the


“The Big Idea contest isn’t just an award and a pat on the back for creative thinking.” Marcia Bedway, Director of the Harrison County Hub explained, “This initiative goes the extra mile and follows up with business plan workshop s and a business plan competition.  The goal is to see the idea realized. And that is what is so exciting.”
