Endurance; and darn good food, too!!!

Print This Story Print This Story

Endurance and plain old fortitude are what it takes to overcome a not-so-good reputation that someone else left behind and you have to deal with it. And perseverance at overcoming such a reputation is a valued Harrison County trait. No where is that perseverance more evident locally than at the Express Cafe at Tappan Lake on Rt. 250.

All of us “long timers” in Harrison County Ohio recall years past when that diner had different names, different owners and not so reliable hours, luke warm coffee and stale donuts. But, WOW; things have changed!! The folks who own and operate it now as The Express Cafe have not only endured for over two years, overcome that old reputation, they have built their business on darn good food, open all day every day, and open all winter long. The owners, Penny and Travis, and their great ( even happy ) staff make everyone that walks through the door feel like a neighbor and a friend. As the old TV show song says – after a visit or two “everyone will know your name”.

As your neighbor in Harrison County, I encourage you to stop by for breakfast after church, or lunch and dinner if you are heading to or from New Philadelphia. You’ll get a better meal and warmer service than at the franchise places.

In addition, Travis is a master leather goods craftsman and specializes in custom made purses, holsters, jacket enhancements, and all kinds of leather goods and convertible top repairs at a very price. Hence the term Biker Zone. Browse and admire his work as you and your family have a ” fantastic ” ┬ámeal.
