I want to tell everyone that reads this medium how excited I am about the future of Harrison County. Folks there is so much happening right now it is unbelievable. There are new businesses coming, Some are planning on expanding. You have the New Dollar General going up in Scio. In Cadiz there is another new restaurant just off of the square called Country Kettle.  They have awesome food at and very reasonable prices.

Recently a business man by the name of Chuck Varner has seen the potential that Harrison County has.  He is in the process of relocating  his family from Wierton, WVa. to Cadiz. He brings with him 25 years experience in the Automotive Service and Repair Business. He is the owner operator of Varners Service station located at 301 E. Market St. Right next to NAPA auto parts. They are a Full service gas station. Meaning they still pump your gas and fuel for you. No more gas smelly hands or oil soaked shoes. As the warmer weather is just around the corner they are certified to test and repair your cars Air conditioning and cooling system. So come check them out. Stay in your car and let Chuck and his team of Automotive professionals take care of you. They may even clean your windshield for you.

In a story that is equally exciting. Last week it was reported that the county commissioners has adopted a strategic plan for economic development. There has been a team of volunteers that have dedicated countless hours over the past 18 months at developing this plan. It is exciting to see such a project of this magnitude finally completed. I cannot wait to get a copy of this plan in my hands so I can share with you the contents so that we as Harrison Countians can contribute to the revitalization of our county.

As I have talked with many people over the past several months there is a great sense of pride and urgency waiting in the wings to see what happens next. I am here to ask everyone that reads this to to get involved, talk to your township trustees, your village council. Ask them how the plan is coming?  Ask them how you can help with the revitalization of your county. It has often been said that 20% of the people do 80% of the works. This is true in almost every facet of life. However what is left out of this statement is, that of the remaining 80%. That 90% of those people are willing to help if they are just asked.

I am also excited to report that there have been several people in attendance at the past two Business 2 Business after hour events that have been held at My Local PC Pro shop in Cadiz.  All bringing good ideas at how to promote our businesses. Our next Business after hours will be held Tuesday April 12th at 6:30 pm. It will be hosted by The Cafe Express located on Rt 250 across from the Tappan Lake Boat launch ramp. They will be serving snacks and refreshments. There will be a guest speaker from ITownz that will be speaking on how to enhance your business recognition.
