Lunch Prices on the Rise

CADIZ- Increases are coming for lunch prices in Harrison Hills City Schools.

Meals will cost 25 cents more this year to meet federal mandates, meaning lunches will be $2.50 for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12 and $3 for adults, while milk will be worth 50 cents. School officials said the hike was made to remain in compliance with the National School Lunch Program, as well as to make changes in response to a recent performance audit.

“The price for reimbursement is $2.74 for lunches and 22.5 cents for milk,” explained Ed Kovacik, district director of operations. “Our rate must be equal to or more than the reimbursement from the federal government. It is being mandated across the nation within the next three years, but with the performance audit we decided to get it done now to be compliant.”
