Honoring A Hero

Print This Story Print This Story

The weather was cool and dreary with a fine mist of rain falling.  The weather was perfect for this sad day.  A brother, son, friend, hero was being honored for the ultimate price he paid for us, his fellow Americans.

Marine Lance Corporal Terry C. Wright gave his life on September 21, 2011 at the age of 21 while serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.   On Wednesday, September 28, the communities of Malvern and Carrollton came together to welcome LCpl Wright home one last time as his body was brought from Akron/Canton Airport to Carrollton with a procession of the Patriot Guard.  Classes were cancelled at Carrollton High School for Friday so funeral services could be held in the gymnasium.

As LCpl Wright’s body was taken to its final resting place at Rock Hill Cemetary in Flushing, each community he passed thru honored him by escorting the procession with law enforcement, fire trucks and e-squads.  Our local Legion Riders joined the Patriot Guard riding their motorcycles, many of them flying large flags on the back of their bikes.

We honor Marine LCpl Terry C. Wright for his sacrifice and send our deepest condolences to his family and fellow Marines.
