Cadiz Biddy Football Homecoming

The first half of the 3rd and 4th grade game between the Cadiz Cardinals and Bridgeport Bulldogs on Sunday, October 9th, seemed to be dominated by the Bulldogs.  Just when it looked like the first half was over with a score of 0-30, Kobe Mitchell passed the ball from behind his own 35 yard line to Cruz Capers.  Cruz took the ball the full length of the field and into the end zone with no time left on the clock.  The Cards were unable to convert the extra point, but went to their half time huddle on a high note.

The boys came back on the field for the second half ready to take control of the game.  Unfortunately, the Bulldogs had the same idea.  Mid third quarter, Bridgeport pushed the ball into the end zone one more time making the score 6-36.

The Cardinals never gave up through the whole game.  With just 23 seconds left in the game, Kobe Mitchell ran the ball for a touchdown!  The team pulled together and was able to convert the extra points as the clock ran down making the final score 14-36.  It may have been a tough loss for the Cardinals, but the team held together and gave it their all right up to the last seconds of the game.

Cadiz Cardinals 3rd and 4th grade team will be playing the Jewett-Scio Vikings 3rd and 4th grade team next Sunday, October 16th, at the Cadiz field.  The winner will go to the Superbowl.

Between games Parents Night was held for all 6th graders.  The cheerleaders started the festivities by dedicating the game to Chanda Collier.  Chanda was a beloved cheer coach and parent who lost her battle with cancer this past summer.  Following the 6th graders being escorted across the field by their parents and families a king and queen was chosen.  Dillon Dodds chose the King card and Sydney Clegg drew the red rose.  Dillon and Sydney will reign as King and Queen until next year’s final home game.

The 5th and 6th graders took the field, both teams wanting to prove themselves.  The game was full of heart and hard hits, but ultimately the Bulldogs dominated the field with a score of 0-32.

The 5th and 6th grade Cardinals will play again October 23rd at Bridgeport in the Superbowl.
