CADIZ, OCTOBER 26, 2011: The Cadiz/Harrison County Visitors Center hosted a combination Tourism and Business-to-Business Roundtable meeting Wednesday night at the Cadiz Puskarich Public Library. At the meeting, Center Director Marcia Bedway announced new hours of operation for the Visitors’ Center. It will be open February through October, Tuesday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. “We are trying this as a cost saving measure. We thought it better to close during the winter and maintain a four-day work week during peak season,” She stressed that correspondence, e-mail and phone messages will be answered throughout the year; only the office will be closed in the winter.

The Roundtable meeting began with an overview of promotion opportunities offered by the State of Ohio Tourism Department. This section of the meeting explored the online support, such as, Buckeyeline Newsletter, and the Facebook, as well as development of media leads, participation in 2012 Ohio Travel Publications, taking advantage of cooperative print and media advertising. “We experimented with some of the cooperative advertising last year, and got some pretty good results,” Bedway said. “We’d like to try it more comprehensively in 2012.”

The meeting continued with the announcement by Howard Landkrohn, a volunteer at the Center, of the planned development of a county-wide business and services guide targeting regular annual visitors, as well as the new influx of visitors to the County connected to the oil and gas exploration. “This guide will feature a map showing exactly what we have and where it is in Harrison County,” he explained. “Any business in Harrison County is welcome to participate. The cost is $150 per year ($75 for non-profits) and includes a listing and position on the map. “It will also be available on-line.” Applications are available through the Cadiz/Harrison County Visitors Center.

Larry Bertolino, owner of MyLocalPCPro concluded the meeting with a presentation of tips for using Social Media for marketing one’s business. He also hosted a “tweaking table” where attendees were able to actually make adjustments to their existing pages and get some hands-on help with accounts.

Bedway said if the attendees found this type of gathering helpful, more would be planned for 2012 throughout the county.
