The Power Team

Print This Story Print This Story

Eight members of the Power Team made a stop in Harrison County to show off their strength and spread their word of inspiration and motivation.  During the day they traveled in pairs to Harrison East Elementary, Harrison West Elementary and the Harrison Central High School, along with ten other Ohio Valley schools and rounding out the evening at Scott Memorial United Methodist Church and three other churches.

Marissa Dingler, youth director of the church, and her husband Eric opened the evening with a high spirited introduction and giving away door prizes from such places as McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Varner’s Gas Station, and the big prize of a Wii.

Shannon and Cody came out and showed their amazing strength by blowing up a hot water bottle as if it were a balloon, breaking a wooden baseball bat by pushing it over their knee, ripping a Steel Valley phone book in half like it was a single piece of paper and bending steel rods over their head.  They each shared emotional stories of difficulties in their lives that they have overcome and how they have turned their hardships into lessons to learn from.

As you looked around the packed house at Scott Memorial UMC, at least half, if not more, of the crowd were school age kids.  These kids had already seen the show earlier in the day, but the Power Team had put on such an exhilarating performance that they wanted to come see it again.

Shannon, one of the Power Team members, says when he looks at the crowd and sees so many young faces, he knows they have  just heard their message and saw their performance earlier in the day and that it warms his heart and lets him know he really is doing the right thing.  He knows personally about the trials and tribulations of the world, having served in Iraq.  He, along with his team members, love encouraging people to live a life of excellence and challenge them to be the best they can be.
