Harrison County Salvation Army

Print This Story Print This Story

With Christmas literally just around the corner, the ringing of bells reminds us that there are many friends and neighbors that their only Christmas wish is to make sure the electric and heat stay on.  The Harrison County Chapter of the Salvation Army is working very hard, with the community’s support, to help as much as they can.

The Harrison County Chapter has approximately 12 volunteers that keep things running.  Some of the things they help with are electric, fuel oil, gas and water.  They can even help with emergency heat if there is furnace problems.  They hold office hours Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Cadiz Presbyterian Church from noon-3pm.  Please contact the Presbyterian Church at (740) 942-4907 to make an appointment if you are needing assistance.  When attending an appointment, you are asked to bring a government issued photo i.d., proof of income for everyone in the household, social security numbers for EVERYONE in the household and the bill that help is needed with.

All those who work with the Harrison County Chapter of the Salvation Army are volunteers, meaning 100% of all donations received are used to help the communities of Harrison County.  This year, in addition to the bell ringers at Coffy’s and Ormes, there are many counter style red kettles at local businesses.  So when you see a red kettle, whether with a bell ringer or just sitting at the check out counter, please drop at least your spare change in and help those in our county that are in of assistance.
