TIMC Photo Share Mobile App

Print This Story Print This Story

Up until recently, the only way to get information about local community oriented events, was to visit bulletin boards, and make copies of flyers that folks had posted. Places like grocery stores, gas stations etc. I will be the first to admit, collecting information in that manner took a’lot of time, and a’lot of driving.

Occasionally events can be found on Facebook, as well as being informed via email or telephone, but the vast majority of information was gathered via bulletin board.

This simple Android Mobile app was developed to allow those who visit this site to become active participants in the data collection process.

Whenever you are in a location that has events or community information posted, simply pull out your phone and click the app. Type in your name (if desired) aim the camera, snap the picture and hit send. It’s that easy. The last 4 posts on TIMC were created using this process.

I was in Coffy’s picking up some Coffee Creamer, and I lingered around the bulletin board at the front door. I pulled out my phone, lined up the flyers with my screen, snapped a picture and moved on.

All these photos are sent to a collection point in a raw un-filtered and Moderated format to be browsed later.

With this mobile application, you can do the same to help TIMC distribute local information. Are you at an event? Take a picture. See something neat? Take a picture. Meet a local celebrity? Take a picture. ( Ask first of course! ) Your cell phone enables you to share with the rest of TIMC what you are seeing.

For Android users, visit the Play Store and search for ThisIsMyCounty or you can click this link.

An Apple Version is set to be released here shortly.
